BSB:Assen - Lowes Up & Down

My goodness!

That was a race reminiscent of the closing stages of the 2012 season with overtakes galore and incidents, some of which shocking, proving that BSB is just as exciting as ever!

Even though the season has pretty much finished now and that this doesn't just come in late, but waaay late, I'm still gonna do my best to cover the talking points from this one, so here goes...

For me, the biggest talking point of this weekend was the retirement of Milwaukee Yamaha rider James Ellison from first having provided an excellent showing to gap Shane 'Shakey' Byrne & Alex Lowes before pulling off with suspected clutch problems... gutting, especially as he was a banker to win that one, such was his dominance in Race One

Race Two, however, was a different story and was all about that move that Alex Lowes made upon Shakey... a move which, according to Ellison, just wasn't there, but then he said he could only see the move for a fraction of a second.

It would be that move that took Shakey out of the race and probably the championship as when the next round started recording on my PVR I saw Shakey on crutches... BOO-HISS!!! :( :(

Should he have done it? Absolutely not, but you could see how distraught and devastated he was on the podium, keeping his celebration mute and stating that if there would be a penalty that it wouldn't be fair, but he wasn't arguing the point.

As a result, he was stripped of the race win putting the championship fight at just one point in Shakey's hands, which makes the crash & seeing him go a.o.t. all the more heart-breaking because this could very well be it for reigning champion Shakey this year!

Ah well, the action picks up the next time at Silverstone where it's the penultimate round, before the season ender at Brands Hatch!

Until then,

Peace out!
