Mission Complete!

Whassup, bro's!

Well, looks like the drinks are on me today (pah, yeah right!) as upon commencing this post, I have officially completed my target of writing seventeen posts in this here blog of mine in twenty five days. Goooo ME!

Right, that's enough conceited self-celebration for now!

As a long-time writer, I have often come across varying standards in my field, some that people would find offensive, disgusting and otherwise just weird (read some Edgar Allan Poe or H.P. Lovecraft and you'll see what I mean, bro's!) and it gets me thinking whether these guys actually gave a cr@p about what their fellow peers/critics thought of their work. The reason I raise such a subject as this is because I recall a time when I was writing my first story in 2009's NaNoWriMo competition and though no financial incentive was there, the goal was to inspire me to write a 50,000 word story in the month of November...

Easter Weekend... A Bunnyfied Massacre!

Whassup, bro's!

Well, it's Easter weekend and the Easter bunn... nope, I'm not gonna do it, I thought about it, but I'm not gonna say it. I'm gonna take a moment now to talk about the real meaning of Easter for me.

Yesterday (for 'tis the early hours of Saturday UK time when I write this!), I went to a Good Friday service under the proviso that I was to perform a dramatised reading of a section of the post-Crucifixion period. I was to emulate the role of a centurion (thank goodness it wasn't fancy dress or I'd have looked a right... well, tool!) who was justifying why he'd done what he'd done, merely stating that he was just following orders from Pontius Pilate.

You know? At this point I confess that when I was younger, I used to hate drama...

Multitasking the Right Way

Whassup bro's!

Here I am, writing this entry whilst simultaneously jobsearching and believe you me I know what I'd much rather be doing and I'm sure you can guess...

There have been times in my life where I've had to, not compromise, but certainly adjust accordingly and the job market is one example that springs to mind. I remember, going back to Summer '11, I was starting to really get affected negatively at the lack of job opportunities that were available, then I caught a break...!

Weather? Don't Talk To Me About Weather!

Well...

Here I am in my flat, watching another snowstorm (nah, only kidding, though it'd be more interesting than having my TV wasting power, wouldn't it?!), wondering what to write in the next entry.

I've spent a good couple of hours playing the videogame 'Dead Island' and whilst I'm not surprised they're having another crack at it, it will be a chance to put a few things right (namely the collision detection system which was atrocious in certain circumstances!), but it still is an enjoyable affair to play nonetheless.

Take the numerous, numerous ways that you can dismember the infected (and don't talk to me about those blasted annoying 'scream first then rush headlong at you' infected!) folk of Banoi! My favourite at the moment has to be an electrified machete I've crafted with the workbench and when it scores a critical hit it's za-za-za-zappin'!!!

Why would I bring this up from an entry titled about the weather...?

Wasting Time With Mind Games

Whassup bro's!

As I edge ever closer to smashing my target of 17 in 25 on this here blog, I think to myself (no, not 'what a wonderful world' lolz!) 'what will I do when all is said and done and I've achieved this target?' and the answer comes back to what I always do best; being me!

Yeah, but 'how does that affect the postings I'll be putting up here?' you may or may not be thinking (and really, I don't care either way, lol!) and I can swiftly answer that by saying that nothing's gonna change, this isn't gonna fall by the wayside as life drags me along for the ride of my life. The posts won't change, just as I don't change.

Take today's post, for example, I was going to leave it until tonight so that I could review the Montenegro vs. England match...

Days Like These...

Whassup bro's!

I'm going to make today's piece short as I plan on watching a film shortly, though what it'll be I'm not too sure yet...

Having been to my local housing association today to report the repair I mentioned in the last post, I can now keep that aside and see how long this one takes to resolve itself!

Other than that, I've watched the Brazil vs. Russia game at Stamford Bridge on ITV4, an affair which was quite enjoyable and I thought an upset was on the cards (well, it would have been an upset had Brazil not been so subdued tonight) when the Russian goalscorer Viktor Fayzulin eventually tucked the ball away (I mean, for crying out loud, someone had to score it was thrown at the Brazilian goal that much!) after various Brazilian defenders threw themselves into the path of the ball only to be foiled at the last moment...

F1:Kuala Lumpur - A Race of Differing Fortunes

Whassup, bro's!

Well, this weekend's Grand Prix was certainly an interesting one to say the least!

My first thoughts have to go with the impressive form of Lewis Hamilton, combining last weekend's fifth place with the final step on the podium this week (though not without 'team orders' potentially playing a part in proceedings). Of course, I have to mention Lewis' boo-boo at stopping in the McClaren pits by mistake... now that must've made him think 'aw crap! I'm gonna get ribbed to hell for this!'

The mention of team orders brings to mind a certain overtake that Fernando Alonso was allowed to perform upon Felipe Massa a couple of years back in Hockenheim and of course it is certainly a contentious subject for some pundits/fans...

A Leaky Situation...

Whassup, bro's!

This entry today comes somewhat off the back of an odd day I've had as upon coming back to my flat, I went into my kitchen to discover that the ceiling has been leaking from the walkway overhead.

Picture if you will, the flat I live in is under not one, but two maisonettes and the walkways run over the kitchens of those underneath. Now, the one that is above mine already had a fix report filed against it when I moved in because of the cold snap over two years ago...

Sucker Punch to the Face!

Whassup, bro's!

Well, that was certainly unexpected although, upon closer inspection with the weather changing maybe it wasn't... a meeting with a new friend got called off! :(

What I'm talking about tonight is one of those little subjects that oftentimes causes people to go off half-cocked and complain how a 'last minute change of heart' caused everything to fall apart in life!

You know the situations I'm talking about, the ones where everything seems to be going a-okay only for something to happen to send them askew (usually something out of your control!). Now, it's at this point that you can react one of two ways: -

Better Things to Complain About...

Whassup, bro's!

Well, this post certainly has been overdue, even though it's only two days since my last one!

What I'm addressing today is the class of people (I'd want to say 'idiot' but that's a tad harsh, only a tad, mind!) out there that seem to have nothing better to do than complain about things that are of no consequence to them and their livelihoods (or at the very least not as much as they are making out!)!

You know the sort, they seem to be waiting for the Idiot's Lantern (or "TV" for the mooks out there!) to churn out something that they find so offensive that they just HAVE to complain to the TV watchdogs that they "had no right to show that because they found it offensive". It's like they're saying they have a right not to be offended instead of simply picking and choosing properly what offends them!

F1:Australia - A Sodden Melbourne...

Whassup, whassup!

Well, the 2013 Formula 1 season is finally underway with Kimi Raikonnen taking the chequered flag ahead of Fernando Alonso and, in my view, he was well worthy of the win as, from the moment he took that lead, his team worked out a 2 stop strategy was the way to win that one!

Life to the Full...

Whassup! :)

Someone once said that you've got to take a look around every once in a while and appreciate your current situation no matter how bad it seems and there's many a truth in a statement like that because we can be so easy at times to snap-judge what goes on around us and assume it's all, well, s***e!

At this point, I say "don't be so serious all the frickin' time"! Life's too damn short to spend it looking at the speed bumps we hit, and we should just, as my good mate Johnny says "crack on" and get doing what we're called to.

"But how do I know what that is?" you cry and I say take a look at what you're good at and BE THE BEST AT IT!!!

Getting Into the Groove

Well, I certainly feel like a groove has been attained now that I'm onto my eighth post in this here blog...

Early impressions for me are certainly that I'm enjoying this (can you not tell already?) as it gives me a chance to just vent about stuff that pecks at my head, grinds my gears and just in general is better put down in digits than it is trapped up top.

Last night, as an example, I sat down to watch my fix of Family Guy and, lo and behold, who was parodied? But Leonard Hofstadter & Sheldon Cooper from the excellent sitcom "The Big Bang Theory"!

Motoriffic Thoughts...

Hey bro's!

Given that I said in my last entry about making it quick and then going on to ramble about what was really grinding my gears, I figured this time I'd correct that by stating my thoughts, as clearly and as concisely as possible, for the new F1 & MotoGP seasons.

From the Sublime, to the Ridonkulous!

Well, it's that time again folks!

It's just hit 1:20am UK time when I started to write this, so I'll try and keep it brief because, whilst I still want it to count towards my 17 in 25 challenge (which it tot's does!), I don't wanna be up for too much longer tonight!

First off on my hit list is my so called 'Sublime'...

Wembley For Wigan!

Well, this was certainly an unexpected event!

I've already declared my footballing loyalties in a previous post, a London red (for you to figure out, but it's not hard really!) but as a neutral, I could not go without commenting on the Everton vs. Wigan Athletic game in the 6th Round of the FA Cup.

On paper, it looked as though this could have been a walk in the park for Everton against a Wigan Athletic side who were looking to put some solidarity in their results and performances after a straight 50-50 split of two wins and two defeats, scoring 10 whilst conceding 5 in the process. This compares with Everton's also 50-50 split of two wins and two defeats, yet their goal tally tells a slightly different story, scoring 7 whilst leaking 4.

With that in mind, maybe this result was foretold!

Within the first half hour Wigan were all over the Toffees like a rash and let me tell you, when I was putting the finishing touches to my lunch (cheese & onion quiche, wedges & veg thank you kindly!) in the kitchen, I heard the commentators go ape as the first goal went in. I thought 'here we go, Everton have started like they did against Oldham the last time out...'

How wrong I was...

A Week To Remember... Not One To Forget!

Hey bro's!

Well, this is the start now of my 17 in 25 challenge, in that I aim to, over the next twenty five days, write seventeen posts in my blog, so I'd best get racking my brains to figure out what I'm gonna rant about, right?

This time it's gonna be a brief synopsis of a subject I've always put a lot of myself into; goal setting.

I'm all for setting goals for oneself especially if it helps you achieve the things you know you want to achieve before this year's out. What I'm not for is those who talk the talk, but when it comes down to the crunch, when the challenge is laid bare, they just cannot be arsed to do anything about what they've set out to do.

Resolutions for one thing... I cannot stand them, I think they're a pointless waste of time (I was going to say 'waist of time' because most are to do with some people's innate desire to get fit every time a new year comes around), why? Simply because most of them are so far-fetched and the person so ill-equipped to live up to their own expectations!

A Red?! Really?

Having just finished watching the Man Utd match against Real Madrid, I can honestly say that I do think that they (Man U) were unlucky to be reduced to ten men like that and that Lee Dixon's comments about a yellow being sufficient are spot on.

Now personally, I don't actually support them, never really have but the game was definitely an enjoyable affair for a neutral such as myself (my loyalties lie in the red half of London) as both teams looked to seize the initiative in the second half of the tie. Wouldn't you know it though, that Cristiano Ronaldo scored?! It was at least decent of him not to celebrate out of respect for a former club, I'll say...

Anyway, onto what's really grinding my gears at the moment at that has to be... employers!

Having spent almost a year now in the market for a job, I find that my options despite coming from an IT background, are only as limited as my imagination. This way, it means that I can never be bogged down in circumstance and start b*tching & complaining that I 'haven't got this/that', when the reality of the situation is that I have a whole heap more than some and yet a great deal less than others.

The key here is to be satisfied with whatever one has at any one given moment. To some this is not easy because their eyes are always a-wandering around looking for what they want/need next, when the reality of the situation is (for me anyways, which is what this blog's about if you hadn't figured out by now!) that we are all part of a much bigger picture...

Take me for example...
