That's all I can say right now, because God is just that good and He is doing that much good in my life! :-D
I've detailed on here already just how encouraged I've been over the last few weeks of attending church, even when I have at times just not felt like going. It reminds me what Ps. Glyn Barrett said; that church "creates a rhythm" for your life.
Did you get that?
It doesn't just start a rhythm, or fix a rhythm, it creates it!
To "start" and to "create" are two very different concepts, my friends.
Right now, one of our new songs keeps buzzing around my head and it goes like this: -
"wherever You take us, this world can't contain us..."The reason it buzzes so, is simply because it is such a marvellous thought to ponder upon; that this world is not meant to contain us or constrain us by its limitations. I'll tell you that the more that I DO ponder upon it, the higher and higher I go!
I remember how I always used to say to a friend of mine, Rachel, that certain things "remind me of a song", which promptly broke out into random song quotations and honestly? I don't know how she put up with that. She put up with an awful lot, bless her heart. But she stood strong with me throughout a period of my life where even I didn't know what was going on.
She's moved on, I've moved on, but the memory of our friendship will always be imprinted upon me because of the work I underwent at the hands of God through her.
Crikey, I'll move on before I get emotional! :-(
Tipping the Balance Back
I remember our senior pastor once saying that we are not to be led by our feelings, but instead we are to live our lives with purpose and let our feelings catch up.
Living with an eidetic memory like I do, can you imagine what that's like for me? Talk about the height of social awkwardness at times. That's why momentum has to be created so that feelings can align with the gained momentum.
Picture, for a moment if you will, what it looks like to "let our feelings catch up", now, imagine how that would look for your life.
Earlier this year, I watched a message from The Potter's House in Denver, Colorado where Bishop Jakes said that we were to live "on purpose" and again it's one of those concepts that can go beyond peoples heads and understanding if we are not careful.
The moment that we slow that thought down and think about it rationally, it makes perfect sense that we are to engage in on purpose living.
What does on purpose living look like though?
Simple.
It's a life where every decision is accounted for, every choice is made with careful consideration to how it will affect our future and everything that happens to us. We decide, will not break us as instead it may very well will be the making of us.
It's the old adage that you "can't always get what you want" coming into play here and you're not going to get defeated, downbeat & downtrodden when the sudden events of life come into your circle of influence and change things up.
For me, it's a case of remembering my email signature: -
"It's not ours to question what God's will is; that's what faith's for."This was taken from the western drama "Hatfields & McCoys", with Kevin Costner. The moment Costner's rival uttered that line, I knew it was going to form a fundamental building block upon which I was to build not only my life, but my future as well.
A statement like that is designed to remind you that, no matter what you face, sometimes it's going to be by faith and faith alone that gets you through.
Final Thought
One question to you today; what are you placing your faith in?
If it's people/objects, then let me offer you a word of caution and warning that people make mistakes and let us down, and objects tend to fade and rust. So do you want one assurance that will NEVER fade?
God.
"Heaven and earth may pass away, but My words will never pass away" Matt 24:35Wouldn't it be great to have that assurance that no matter where you go or what you do, there is Someone looking out for you today?
Until next time...
