Well bro's!
I wondered how long it would take to resolve a leaky roof (from an earlier post dated 23rd March, you'll know my ceiling was leaking) and it appears I now have my answer... 26 days!
Now, make of that what you will (I for one take a far more pacifist's approach to all of this, because I've already told you I choose my battles carefully!) but either way the builders have done a bang-up job so far...
The job was more complex than I'd hoped, but they're the pro's and as my kitchen unfortunately is directly under the walkway above (again as I've already described in a prior post), they had to "lower" the ceiling to provide adequate protection. The work upstairs on the walkway itself has already been completed and the flooring has been re-laid so that when the nasty weather returns (which it inevitably will living in Oldham at some point!), I should be protected.
As if that wasn't enough, they then had to replace the shoddy light fixture as it appeared the bare minimum amount of work had been done on fitting it originally (though it had been moved twice before now and that's prior to the two and a bit years I've been there!). That relied on a 'sparky' (that's an 'electrician' to you not-in-the-loop mooks, lol!) who unfortunately didn't turn up until after they'd finished the first part of the job.
Tomorrow they're back to finish the job and that should be that (one hopes, sic!)!
The problem for them is, they're contracted out by my landlord (who shall remain nameless so no slander can be garnered!) and are unfortunately subject to the lack of petrol paid for in getting to my place and have to purchase their own tools for the job as well!
WHAT?!
I've worked for people like that (insert Muttley style rant here!) and it is not a good way to spend your time, is it?
It appears they look after their own in-house staff, but 3rd party? That's another matter! You're on your own, "mate"!
Anyhoos... the next post will have my review of the races from Round 2 of BSB @ Thruxton, so for now... that's all folks!
Peace out!
