MotoGP:Circuit of the Americas - The Marc of a True Champion

Well that certainly was an enjoyable 21 laps!

Having just finished watching yesterday's MotoGP from Texas, I figured it time I sit down and get the review out of the way, as the sooner I do that, the sooner I can get onto the next item on the agenda.

This was the first time that the MotoGP guys had taken to the tarmac of this newly designed circuit and after the rather successful F1 outing of last year, I wondered how it would be in terms of entertainment for the bro's on 2 wheels as opposed to 4...

It turns out it was just as enjoyable imo, largely due to the width of the circuit allowing for plenty of overtaking opportunities even if one guy, Lukas Pesek, did manage to clip his rival, Danilo Petrucci and take himself out in the process! OOPS! :O

The award for rider of the day is an easy one and unlike the previous two postings I've done on the F1, this time I will be picking the obvious one; Marc Marquez.

Why? Well, as he showed last time out when he climbed onto the podium for the first time, this bro' is surely on the way up and after his successful Moto2 career, I can see him going on to become a future MotoGP champion just like Valentino Rossi & Jorge Lorenzo.

This time, he waited until there were eight laps remaining, hovering behind Dani Pedrosa who took the first corner as expected from the start, at such a distance that once committed he would have to go for it. The pair of them pulling out a lead of over three seconds ahead of their nearest rival (and then championship leader, Jorge Lorenzo).

This was where the width of the track played to Marquez's advantage for me, because the moment he committed, there was next to nothing Dani could do about it as anyone who knows anything about racing knows, if you can outdo your opponent on the brakes, you can zip past them exactly on the corners they're not expecting.

Other than that, I would like to pay special kudos to my fave Brit, Cal Crutchlow, who once again finished an excellent 4th place and proved that even though the team couldn't make the pre-season test in Texas, they still had it in them to ensure the Monster Tech 3 Yamaha finished as high as it qualified and the highest of the CRT machines. Bravo, bro'!

Next time out it's off to Jerez in Spain where the front row from this race will all be looking to seal victory at their home GP and with Marquez and Lorenzo tied on points and Pedrosa looking promising until outdone by the race winner, it's anyone's guess who'll be over the line first...

Until next time, bro's!

Peace out!
