Has Call of Duty Lost The Way?

Wow...

I've just seen the reveal trailer for the new Call of Duty game.

What can I say that I haven't already said before?


It looks tired, lazy, dated, dull, boring and repetitive!

The first problem I have is with the name, are developers getting that lazy now that they don't remember when rival titles bear a striking resemblance to the naming scheme that they have chosen??

I think so.

I'm of course talking about Future Soldier in the Ghost Recon series, the predecessor of which GRAW2, provided one of the best and coolest guns to ever feature in any game, period; a gun that shoots round corners!

Compare it with this one for Advanced Warfare (I'm serious that's what garbage Sledgehammer have come up with for the title of this one!): -

Are you really that challenged that you cannot come up with a better name than "Advanced Warfare" which is twelve of the eighteen characters of Future Soldier's predecessor; Advanced Warfighter??


All the fanboys will be crying out now, I can hear you from here and I don't care! :P

I've told you already what I look for in a game and I think I'll just stick to Minecraft for now!

The next problem? You can imagine the "set-pieces" already, having seen the trailer. In fairness, FS did suffer with that because the on-the-rails segments were buggy and did not play well at all, remember the ending where you had to chase the guy down and stop him getting on the train? BORING!

I can tell you already, I bet it'll feature a mission with those hover-bike types seen in the trailer and then a mandatory "defend this area whilst we throw as many baddies as we can at you all in one go"... something which is just so repetitive and been done to death!

I gave up on CoD after MW1 and won't be going back any time soon unless they buck their ideas up, but that won't matter one jot to the developers, will it because all those sad people will throw their cash at the cashcow of a franchise, as laughable as that is!

No, I won't be buying it so I don't have to waste more time than I have to day on writing this retort for such a dated franchise that either needs reinventing or putting to bed once and for all!
