The Perseverance of Abraham - Sixty Seconds of Faith #0001 Part II

If you haven't already, grab a brew, a biccy, and watch part two of "60 Seconds of Faith" on perseverance before reading this as the two are fairly closely linked. TLP

Hey there!

When thinking about what to put for the next episode of 60 Seconds of Faith, I naturally began to think of common examples of perseverance. The more I thought about it, the more I realised that perseverance is all across the Bible as long as you know where to look. From David persevering in his escape of his persecutor; Saul, to examples of Jesus' own perseverance when it came to the people's own ignorance at what He was trying to demonstrate.

In the end, though, I landed upon Abraham & Sarah's story, around the time they received the 'promise' from God that he would be a father to many nations & that Sarah would play her part by giving birth herself.

But what good would that do, given he was almost a hundred years old and she wasn't far behind?

Let's zoom in for a closer look...

Faith Filled Friday - Sixty Seconds of Faith #0001 - Part II

Hey there everyone! ;)

It's been a few days since my last posting, hasn't it?

Well I'll explain in part now that the reason behind the lack of action here thi week is due to my "7 Days of Praise" celebration I'm now six days into, but more on that on Monday...

Before that, however, is my latest broadcast from "60 Seconds of Faith" and to make up for the lack of scriptural content last time, I decided to take a look at one of my favourite examples of perseverance in the Bible; Abraham.

Thoughts on Perseverance - Sixty Seconds of Faith #0001

Good day to you!

A slightly different change of approach for this posting, given that this is the accompanying post to the brand new series of postings entitled "60 Seconds of Faith", my way of lifting people's focus if they're seeming to be stuck in a rut.

I won't waste any more time other than to get right to the point and tell you the story I promised from episode #0001, Perseverance...

Faith Filled Friday - Sixty Seconds of Faith #0001

Whassup, bro's!

Today starts off the first in a brand new series of videos I'll be posting for the foreseeable future, all taking place on a Friday (ED - yes, we see what you did there, TLP, alliteration can be fun when used appropriately!).

These thoughts are designed to give you a little lift, given that Friday is supposed to be everyone's favourite day of the week...

Dwelling on What If's Part II - From Lemons to Beauty

If you haven't already done so, then may I encourage you to go ahead and read last week's posting on not dwelliing on the "what if" moments in life. Trust me, it's worth your time! - TLP

Whassup bro's!

Welcome to part two of "Dwelling on What If's" and so far, we have covered what to do when life gives you lemons; don't dwell on them and turn them instead into some find dessert, along with a coping strategy of mine in such an occasion as lemons in life.

Enough talk of lemons, now it's onto today's message...

Despising the Day of Small Beginnings

Does anyone dare despise this day of small beginnings...? Zech 4:10

Whassup bro's!

This next posting comes at a time when I've often done what is described in the title and that is to despise the day of small beginnings. The verse I've quoted from came at a time when God was reminding Zerubbabel that rebuilding the temple would only bring about prosperity as long as God was sought to help it come to fruition.

Both Joshua and Zerubbabel may have been figureheads in terms of overseeing the build, but they were each reminded, in their own ways, that God's power would make this possible and not by their own might. In doing this, God proved to them that man's strength and wisdom would only take him so far, it was in God's that he should rely to take him all the way to the finish line.

It's this I want to take a look at today, this idea that we should not despise what we're going through today in order for our tomorrow to be as great as it possibly can be...

Dwelling On What If's Part I - Taking Control of Errant Thoughts

Whassup bro's!

It's funny how one particular song can get stuck in your head for seemingly no apparent reason, isn't it?

For me, at the minute, it's Stevie Ray Vaughn's "House is Rockin'" and every time I listen to it, it just glues itself onto my brain for ages afterwards. I listened to "In Step", still one of my favourite albums from SRV, earlier when sat on the front step of my flat and I got to reminiscing about these past six years having a car.

VE Day @ 70: Never Let Us Forget

Good morning!

On this, a day for celebrating what was decided 70 years ago today, let us never forget those who have gone before us, lest we fail to be reminded what they did for us.

I've composed a little poem to mark the occasion: -

Nothing Changes Until YOU Do!

Whassup, bro's!

I'm sitting here, again, listening to Classic FM's Smooth Classics with a cup of hot chocolate, which is something I'm doing more and more often lately.

This is when I got to thinking, recently, about what makes me enjoy the things that I do; enjoy classical music, enjoy videogames & enjoy my own company more than most. I came to the conclusion, like others have said; that who I am today is a direct result of all the choices that I have made both good and bad over the course of my life.

I'm a Changing Man, Built on Shifting Sands

Whassup bro's!

This is, what? The second post now on my new netbook and all I can say so far is that I am suitably impressed with the capabilities of my Asus eeePC Seashell at the moment!

I mean, sure, it hangs when you give it too much to do at once, but it can easily handle word processing, blogging, Youtube etc and it only really tends to struggle, as I have said, when you try to multi-task. It's understandable that's for sure, but I will be recommending it to anyone wanting a bog-standard computer for browsing the internet or writing the next literary masterpiece.

The Weakened State (Or Letting the Right One's In) - Part II

Whassup bro's!

I hope you enjoyed last week's posting of some thoughts I've been having lately, if you haven't caught up yet, then here's another chance to do so.

This time out, and as part of a new series I'll be titling "Faith Filled Friday" intended to be a devotional-type released most Fridays, I'm going to be looking at what you do once you've let someone into your own secret little world. You've given them permission to get to know you better, but then what? What happens after that?
