Off the Scale #9 - Giacomo Puccini's O Mio Babbino Caro

Hello,

Welcome to the ninth edition of Off the Scale and I'm glad you're enjoying this series because I'm certainly having fun scouring the archives of classical music to bring you some of my favourite pieces.

As I've mentioned already, I'm not reviewing these pieces, just putting across that, for me, classical music is at the forefront of my musical tastes so it needs to be celebrated. What better way for me to do this than with a piece starring my all-time favourite violinist; AndrĂ© Rieu...

O My Dear Father



The first time that I heard this piece I was seriously moved thanks to this arrangement on AndrĂ©'s "Love in Venice" DVD, which you can buy on Amazon. It's so evocatively performed and brings out such a sense of familial love that, even if your natural parents haven't always been there, in the greater collective, we are all loved in one way or another: -


So closing out today's edition, I'm not going to waste time expounding on the above thought because that content belongs in a lifestyle post, just know that as you listen to this piece, you are loved, treasured and valued by somebody, somewhere!
