LS007c - Closer than a Brother III - A Reason(able) Friend

Hello everyone!

Well, I made it through yet another Valentine's week single, which right now I could not care less about because I've got enough on my plate than moping around bemoaning my marital status.

What I'm going to be looking at today, in the wake of Valentine's week, is the fact that we should never hold our friends so dear to ourselves that we cannot bear to let them go. Some are meant for a season, some are meant for a trial and some are meant to drift away.

Which of those responses you accept and which you don't are of no consequence to me, I want to spend some time looking at the friends we have to let go of whether we like it or not...

Off the Scale #12 - The English Folk Song Suite by Ralph Vaughan Williams

Hello everyone and welcome to the next edition of Off the Scale!

Now that the series is finding its feet, I hope that you are enjoying listening to, or revisiting, some of the finest classical pieces that have been written over the centuries. I've got plans to expand this series well into the year so even though we are still in the infancy of this series, expect it to be around for a long time to come.

Today, it's the turn of Ralph Vaughan Williams, again, and his English Folk Song Suite...

LS015 The Benefits of Perspective

Hello everyone!

I hope you enjoyed your Valentine's week whether you're single or are in a relationship because, despite feeling like I wanted to drink myself into a coma at times, I made it through, lol!

Seriously, though, after the difficulties I have been through over the last few months it has helped me realise that the reason that I'm still going today has been, by and large, because of the perspective that I have been able to maintain that God is my ever present help (Psalm 46:1).

I have looked in the past at what we do when the chips are down is what really defines us and our true capabilities because they bring to light the true state of our focus during those difficult times...

I'm going to continue where I left off yesterday by continuing to look at what love is to me so if this challenges some of your perceptions then good, I've gone and done my job.

Off the Scale #10 - The Toreador Song (taken from Georges Bizet's Carmen)

Hello,

This is the tenth edition of my classical music series and I'm really enjoying this as I think classical always appears to the non-classical fans as though it's a generation or two from dying out, but it never really is or will, in my opinion. There are too many people taking the baton forward even going so far as to reimagine popular tunes in a classical way.

Today, I'm going to look at one of my favourite opera's; Bizet's Carmen. From it I'm going to take a highlighter to Bryn Terfel, somebody that I only really got into last year, yet has been around for a few years now...
