I'm finally back to mine after an energetic and at times quite frantic day out to St. Anne's in Fylde!
Now, to those of you who read my previous post on my visit to the very same place may think 'why the same place, bro'?' - to which I'll tell you what I always tell you... BECAUSE I CAN!!!
Journeying like this to a place as pleasant and peaceful (that wasn't the case today as I'll get onto in due course) is always a welcome change from the humdrum that is life at times as it allows me to just switch off from the things I'm responsible for, for one day and just enjoy myself...
I started with a trip on the necessary motorways (usually the M60, M61 & M55 to get there) noticing, as usual, that people seem to forget to signal now when they carry out a manoeuvre as they're driving.
Now, forgive me if I've got this wrong (which I haven't!) bro's, but last time I checked the highway code & my driving instructor, Lee, it's the following when you're carrying out a manoeuvre in your car: -
- Mirror
- Signal
- Manoeuvre
You can be driving down the motorway and a car will pull in front of you with either a bare flash of the indicators as they move over, or just move over without a signal... idiots, or a better way the Spanish might put it, los pendejos!
Anyways, I was travelling by sat-nav & after I left the motorway I was instructed to 'turn left'. Don't worry, I'm not going to say 'but a field's in the way, or a lake', instead I'm going to say I wish I hadn't listened to the feckin' thing!
Why? Because it took me, not round the houses, but up a single track country lane that was so bumpy I thought I was back in the fun house back at Blackpool!
It was kinda reminiscent of my road trip to Llandudno the week I went across to Anglesey & then on the way back thought I'd pay a visit to Bangor and then on my return journey, I was trekking (see driving) through a whole manner of country lanes, including at one point being told by said sat-nav to go down lane that was no bleedin' entry!
Stupid bloody tech', eh? XD
First order of business is the restaurant I went in... well, it was more of a fish & chip shop on St. Anne's Pier and I have one word for you... a-ma-ZING!
I was intent on having a fish dinner because I was at the seaside, so to have one of such quality at a place that was called The Pier Cafe, I was blown away because the chips were purely delectable. They reminded me of the one's I make (albeit Aldi's own brand 'homestyle' chips, which are just as nice as Aunt Bessie's!) The fish? Well, I've already covered it, but it was so damn tasty!
I'll be going there again, that's for defo', bro's!
What else did I get up to? Well, I went into practically every single charity shop to see what books/dvds/games I could pick up as these are gems of places to go when you're looking for something that is so hard to find as it's either that rare, or that popular as soon as places like HMV get it, they sell out.
I managed to get not one... not two... not three... but SIX books!
For how much, though? Get this! One, a Barnardo's had a sublime offer of 4 for 99p & the other's were a mere 99p each.
I guestimate that is probably almost $5 in conversion (not bad, brah, cos it's actually $4.63 to be precise! - ED), which cannot be all that bad, can it?
I picked up the following (I've done my research and linked accordingly so you don't have to! Don't say I never do anything for you, bro's!): -
- "A Caress of Twilight" (not to be confused with that bowlex teeny vamp Meyer tripe which I'll NEVER link here, so thank me later!) by Laurell K. Hamilton;
- "Cocktail" (You know? The one with Tom Cruise as a bartender?) by Heywood Gould;
- "Interview With The Vampire" by, of course, Anne Rice (I've been trying to track that down for time, I tell's you!);
- "Stormbreaker" (the fantastic film telling the story of Alex Ryder, schoolkid turned spy!);
- "The Constant Gardener" (starring Ralph Fiennes, a truly inspirational masterpiece of cinematography imo);
- "127 Hours" (I saw the film on which this story was based and was gripped from start to finish, even if the twist was spoilt by one pendejo of a film reviewer! EUGH!!!);
Today it ranged from this song (so good it was repeated 3 times!), this one, this & this song when I arrived... variety much?
That's what I like about having a good majority of my CD collection on a device that could easily hide itself inside, well, let's just say it's hard to believe that it can contains THAT MUCH music!
Well, I could go on and on... but let's just say that today was a fantastic journey and has satisfied my wanderlust for a while now as the last couple of days out, I've been leeching off my parents (or, been a passenger in their car, lol!), so it was good to set the record straight whilst having no one nagging at me to go home when I... don't... want... to!
Peace out, bro's!
