Hi readers!
How's everyone doing today?
Good I hope. I know I am!
I could respond now by telling you why I'm doing so good, but I won't because I'm going to let today's post be proof enough of the reason for the upturn in my recent mood...
Raising the Cross, Not the Difficulty
I bet you're all wondering where I could possibly be aiming having raised the point that going back to the start can often be the best thing for us in a difficulty.
Well, it'll be my job today to try and convince you that sometimes, remembering not only who you are but Whose you are is what's more important than the difficulty that you are facing.
It's at this point that I would often bring up my crush and talk a little bit about that.
But I don't have to.
If it is meant to be then it will be and that's that!
Let's, instead, take a look at what the Bible says: -
For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and believe in your own heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9 (TLB)
The moment I start saying that Jesus Christ is my Lord, instead of saying I've got a crush on (ED - HA! He's not going to say her name!)... someone... then I am in fact setting my priorities back to where they should be; on Jesus, which is more important to me than my feelings for any one person.
Is that perspective?
You see, the moment I start talking about my problem, it will start to get bigger and when it gets bigger, inevitably, I will start to cry about it because I like her that much!
Instead, I remember the whole reason for my being alive today; to complete the work that Jesus has created for me to do: -
It is God Himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago He planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.
Ephesians 2:10 (TLB)
Now, to give context, and to prove I'm not just speaking from my own interpretation, here's what it says just before that: -
Because of His kindness, you have been saved through trusting Christ. And even trusting is not of yourselves; it too is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good we have done, so none of us can take any credit for it.
verses 8 & 9
For God, From God & Through God
Putting it all into context, I see that it is God who made me, that this life that I live is from Him and therefore, as I've been saying all along, one crush on one person does not get the right to define me!
It's what I do, crush on her, not who I am!
Am I getting my point across? In keeping my eyes focused right where they should be I don't pull out of church, I don't pull out of going to social occasions because I know that within me could very well be the answer to someone's miracle that they have been searching ages for!
It's not about me, it's about God delivering through me somebody else's miracle!
In fact, Steven Furtick recently spoke a message on just such a subject: -
Powerful teaching from Pastor Steven as always, in my opinion, because so often we go to church thinking it's all about what we can get from any service, when it's not...
It's about seeing what God can do through us!
Final Thought
This maybe went on a little bit longer than I meant to, but I trust I got my point across well.
In facing any one difficulty down and saying that God is still on the throne with it and you are not going to let it define you, nor keep you down, you are in fact allowing God's wonder-working power to go to work with full effect!
Watch the skies!
