But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that is, the word of faith, which we preach: that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:8-10 (KJV)
Hello everyone!
We are into March now and I don't know about you but the excitement of this new year shows no signs of abating for me. Sure, I'm going through some difficult and trying times right now but keeping eternity in view, I know where I will end up when I pass from this life to the next.
Recently, I've been looking at the trustworthy nature of the word of God and how within it, there is the power to free ourselves from many a problem simply by setting our gaze unerringly upon the ever-present fact that God is here, with us, today. We've looked at how the words we speak can indicate the true condition of our hearts and we've looked at what happens when our focus starts to drift.
Today, I'm going to look at building upon that by saying that if you build your life on scriptural principles that I have been talking of then I believe and declare that you can see lasting change not just for yourself but for your whole world.
Are you ready to do this?
Let's go...
Share to Care
Yesterday lunch time I had a very effective conversation with a friend of mine where I got to share some of my story and he shared me some of his story and we both agreed to take the next stage of my journey together. It made a change, I can tell you, from other people who just aren't on the wavelength necessary to do life with me right now.
I'm currently in the process of dissecting my contacts book for the next phase of my journey and part of that, I believe, comes with laying down the correct foundations so that when you look back on this point, on this moment, you know you acted for your best interests. However difficult it may be, sometimes you have to realise that you are not going to go through the entirety of your life with the same people that started or joined your journey. It's not meant as a dig at anyone, it's just simply stating a fact that we are all on our own journey together so we need to keep an open mind on who is around us at any one time because they could be the ones to whom we are drawn closer or further away from.
What foundations we build upon today will affect the type of house we get tomorrow.
If I were to stop jobseeking, then the house I get tomorrow would be unemployment.
If I were to stop trying to maintain a positive mental attitude, then further into depression and anxiety I would sink.
If I were to stop reading my Bible and stop communicating with God then backsliding would be my only outcome.
The point that I am trying to make is that it is the decisions that we make when things aren't going so well that are just as, if not more, important to our future than when they are. In our darkest times we can make the longest lasting mistakes. In our bleakest seasons we can often do or say things that will leave a lasting impression upon those around us, maybe more so than they would on our best days.
We are revealing our true character in those times and moments and those around us are, unfortunately, the one's likely to bear the brunt of our attitude. This is why I try to cultivate a positive mental attitude as much as I can. Sometimes I don't do it and my attitude stinks. But you know what? That's okay, it shows I'm on a journey and I don't have it all together.
Take a look at the header to my blog; why do you think I say that I'm "fully devoted, just not perfect" when it comes to following after Jesus? Because I know I will make mistakes but I try to mark all experiences down to learning. The good. The bad. Everything.
I don't get everything right and, chances are, when I look back upon this period of my life, I will find areas that I maybe didn't get it right.
You know what?
It's okay.
God is with me and He will never leave me.
Final Thought
What I want to help you all to see is that no matter what your circumstances look like right now, whether you're on top of the world or down in the dumps, nothing is forever.
Only eternity is.
Our focus, wherever possible, needs to be on the fact that, in the end, according to Revelation 22:1-5, we see that it all works out: -
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
However bad it gets, remember this; whatever you're going through today, no matter how bad it looks, feels or seems, it's only temporary and, in the end, eternity with God is awaiting all believers.
If you don't believe today, I'm not going to hate on you one bit. I've been called, as a blogger, to represent an unbiased Kingdom with a universal love the likes of which only God can give. Instead I'm going to ask you if you would at least consider letting God get a little bit closer to you, if only to see what He can do through you.
He will only come as close as you want Him to. Just know that He loves you to death; the death of His own Son (John 3:16)!
Peace!
