For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (KJV)
Hello everyone!
So, we've passed the point where Christ was crucified all those years ago, and we are now in-between His death and eventual resurrection.
Of course, knowing how the story ends, gives us hope that though we're stuck in our struggle today, there is hope for our future. Imagine how it must have been for those who loved Jesus and followed Him during His ministry. Their Saviour was dead and hope seemed to die with Him.
Hope During Hopeless Seasons
As I have said before, it's the conscious choices that you make during the seasons of confusion that will often determine if you make it through your struggle.
Nobody else can choose how you will react during the seasons of debt, of addiction, or of distress. Only you can.
What do you think the disciples thought, the moment Jesus breathed His last on the cross? Disappointment? Despair? Dismay?
Whatever it was, there was only a matter of time before the bigger picture started playing out around them. In Matthew 28 we read how the two Marys' encounter with the angel of the Lord would set up a miracle appearance in front of those who loved Jesus and thought Him dead. So here, we can see that God's plan all along was to see His Son sacrificed so that, like with Lazarus, God Himself would get all the glory the moment He raised His Son from the dead.
Do you feel trapped right now? Like there is no way out of debt, addiction, or distress? Then I would like to remind you that God is still in control of your situation and He wants to hold your hand as you walk through it.
You might have to give some things up in order to see God at work. He is still with you and He is still working things out for your good. All you need to do is keep your eyes on Him.
God loves you.
His Ever Watchful Gaze
God is watching over you with His loving gaze and, when you are tempted to move your focus, He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Therefore, there is always a way out, ALWAYS!
We need to trust in our Heavenly Father and in His timing because everything is intended for our good (Romans 8:28), no matter how rough it appears at the outset or during our struggle.
Death might separate us from our loved ones today, but death does not separate those of us who are believers from God. He is still working everything out and do you want to know how I know this? We're all still living. Time moves ever onwards so God's plan has not come to completion yet.
Final Thought
In closing then, let us remember that, though we are stuck in confusion, we are simply stuck in the traffic jam of life unable to see down the road where our future is leading. Thus, we are unable to see the "why" behind whatever is happening to us today.
Peace!
