For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV)
Hello everyone and welcome to week 2 of #RaisingUpFearless!
This week, I'm going to look at what it means to be a promise keeper for God. I mean, sure, we've heard that God Himself is true to His word (ED - Isaiah 55:11 fyi), but what if I also told you that we have a part to play when it comes to receiving His promises?
Shouldn't we get in agreement with Him as this week's devotional verse suggests...?
A Done Deal in Christ
In fact, the verse itself says that "for no matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ". So that means that you can take any promise and I mean any promise that God has given to you and run to the nearest bank with it because it's a sure thing.
Me? I'm taking God's promise of the most amazing girlfriend that I could ever have hoped for that will start an adventure, the likes of which I have never seen before (ED - as he's already been brave enough to admit to you all!) and also the likes of which will leave a lasting impression wherever I go.
Why? Because this promise is in God's Name, He gave it to me seven years ago and the moment that I got into agreement with it, the moment that I said "yes", or "amen", I was becoming a promise keeper as I kept the promise as safe as I possibly could in the deepest reaches of my heart.
There are countless times where God has proven to be a Promise Giver as well as a Promise Keeper, you only have to look.
Take Abraham and Isaac who went up the hill and were prepared to undergo a major sacrifice, simply because God told them to.
Imagine how that conversation would have gone afterwards...
Living Fearlessly in Spite of Opposition
Do you think Isaac would have been angry at his father for taking him up the mountain to sacrifice him? Or blessed to have been a part of something that would kick start a whole new level for Isaac, who surely would become a fearless adventurer now that he had lived to tell the tale?
What about Abraham when God told him to "go to the land that I will tell you"?
That wasn't a destination, that was a clue to a destination!
The same principle is in effect here when I think of my !Audacious bride, wherever she is...
God told me that she was in existence before I even started going to that church and I took that to heart and still believe it to this day, seven years on!
What I quickly began to realise was that the moment that I got in agreement with God and became a promise keeper, just as He is, that was me passing the test. It was me learning to grow up and trust God. It was me learning to grow up and act fearless towards the promise.
I just wish I felt like that when I'm around her! :-D
I knew that people would try and talk me out of this simply because here I was, a singleton, talking so radically about what is going to happen in my life because I've already seen where I'm headed. I've seen where my adventure is taking me and it's all the way down the aisle and beyond!

Final Thought
Let me give you some comfort before I wrap up this series next week, by saying if there is something that you're yet to see happen and God has told you that it is going to happen then it will DEFINITELY HAPPEN!!!
I hope I've already reinforced why it's going to happen because as we've already looked at today, God is a Promise Keeper and therefore He will live up to His Word.
All you have to do is wait...
I know, I know, it's not what you want to hear, just like it's not what I want to hear, especially when all I want to do right now is give her a big hug!
Nonetheless, I still have to trust, I still have to wait & I still have to rely on God because it is on His timing that this little adventure is all set.
It's annoying, it's irritating, even, at times, but the whole point is that I know God is going to honour His Word, just simply because He spoke it to me seven years ago!
So, if He is going to honour His Word to me, then He will most certainly honour it to you!
Watch the skies!
