Creative Academy IV: The Sequel - Making Music Is FUN!!!

Wow, what an exhilerating experience that was!

Tonight, we were on stage getting to grips with the sound set up at !Audacious Church and this naturally meant that we were plugged into the PA system.

What did I think? I'll tell you what I thought...

A-MA-ZING!!!

It was such a brilliant experience to throw my lot in with the sound mix and just make sure things were sounding sweet as. They were and I must say that, thought I confess I was a little like a rabbit in the headlights for a moment near the start, it didn't take me long to get into the rhythm with regards to running through "Rise" as I've already posted in a prior posting.

I know what contributed to that and it was simply that the mix was panned in my monitor to the left side, when I only had the right earpiece in, because I much prefer to hear what I'm playing as well as hearing the ambient mix.

Why?

It's an experience thing, I've been playing for just over ten years now and only now am I beginning to get serious about making music for cash (or just hope to, in future, get paid for doing something I love!) and though this isn't a paid gig, I'll say that the future's definitely bright with talent like mine being refined in such a great environment.

I swore from that very first day I learned I could play the guitar that it was going right back to where it came from; to the Creator God!

In all honesty though, tonight's experience showed me how I, when faced with a challenge I did not like, I retreated into a shell and wouldn't come out again until it was safe to do so.

Sound familiar to anyone?

Crucially, having been through all the stuff I've been through, which with hindsight is no greater deal than most other people, I learned this was a coping mechanism I developed whenever faced with situations I'd never been in before.

This time, however, I knew that I just had to push past those feelings and was suitably able to do so and, rather ironically rise, like the cream often does, to the top!

It's been a learning and a growing experience for me, this Academy and what else can I say except to bring it on as I head into the future that God's got planned for me that involves, in part, being an international jet-setter.

Now wouldn't that be cool if it was in music and all for his name?

Well, I'm at the right church for that aren't I? ;)

Next time it's another band week on stage and we'll be practising, or so I've heard, "Victor's Crown" (again, I've already posted that on here.) so needless to say the challenge doesn't stop here, it just gets bigger and bigger as I get to towards the business end of the course!

You know what?

I'm more than equal to it because: -

Romans 8: 37 - No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

So with that being said, I know that God is far and above able to make happen the dream He promised to me around 2003 where He told me I'd be playing to a crowd of hundreds and all for His Name's sake!!!

So allow me to quote Eric Cartman then, in closing: -

"Follow your dreams, you can reach your goals, I'm living proof..."
Thank you for reading and goodnight!

Peace out!
