The better team did win on the night, but it is rather heart warming to see this young side start off so brightly only to fall victim to a set-piece that yes, should have been defended better, but they didn't, it wasn't and they ultimately paid the price...
The likes of Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge shows that not only does talent emerge from the red side of the Mersey, but it's a remarkably positive atmosphere given the 1-2 scoreline.
I've just heard Rio Ferdinand call Sterling "a defender's nightmare" and that is quite an accurate statement for a player so young and talented as he's always looking to take on and beat his man.
Next up it's U-R Gay... as Homer says: -
(ED - Please note at this point that TLP is not calling the team, nor the people of the country, just reminiscing about an old Simpsons episode as you can so blatantly see above!)
So let's see if Sterling can keep his club team-mate the highly talented, if a little crazy at times, Luis Suarez, quiet.
Peace out!
