A Little Impromptu Posting

I've just been sat on the front step of my flat as I'm often wont to do these days, listening to the evening's Full Works Concert on Classic FM and got to thinking about updating my blog, so here's another post!

I suppose you're wondering whether this will be a musing or a rant and I'll tell you the truth and say that it's the former rather than the latter, because I have no interest in running this blog at 70-75% rant status, especially when I've reviewed stuff in the past.

You may already know that I'm currently working my way through the Joel Osteen book I told you about a short time ago and it is revolutionising the way I think about the words I use.

In times gone past it would hardly have been noticed by me that I was directly framing the world I lived in by the positive/negative camber I was laying down on the road I was walking on. It was a simple case of ignorance being bliss as I was unaware of what sort of future I was investing in simply by speaking out what I was feeling at the time.

Now, sufficient time has gone past for me to be able to say that I have learned my lessons from the past and will endeavour to never again do that which has been adversely affecting my world.

Think about it for a moment, bro's, if all you do is say negative stuff about your circumstances, how can you ever believe they will change?

I once quoted from the 2008 film "Rambo" that "nothing would ever change because nothing ever does" when I was working on the helpdesk for IBM. With hindsight I see that was an unwise thing to declare because I first of all believed it, backed it up by further repetitions of the same words and believed it even more!

Take your current situation for the moment, if you're looking for work like me and are getting down all the time about how employers just won't take a second look at your CV, then watch what you're doing if you're oh so negative about it all the time.

You Are Expecting Things To Stay The Same, So They Will

A little on the nose that may seem, but you've got to think about it like this, if you think you're always gonna be out of work, then the more you say that, the more you will invest in that argument giving it weight. Eventually it will become a controlling factor in your life.

Don't believe me? Why haven't your circumstances changed?

Like my advisor, Lee, said to me the other week at Avanta
"There's no reason for you NOT to be in work"
I can hear your excuses from here, that I don't know what I'm saying or that I don't know your circumstances and you're right - I DON'T!

But what I do know, is that you've got a choice to stay like that forever or move with the times, change, evolve (no I'm not talking about that theory again!), thrive, survive and make the most out of life!

Do you hear me? You HAVE a choice!!!

Now if it's sickness that's preventing you then please accept my humble apologies for it is not those people I mean to poke into action, it is those who are becoming slothful because their circumstances have stalled.

I've got news for you; your circumstances have stalled because YOU have!

If You Build It, They Will Come

That statement always spoke volumes to me from the Civilisation games because it reminded me that the more you build into your future today, the more of an impact it will have on your future outlook.

Think negatively and you'll begin to act negatively, so why not flip that switch for a change and think positively because chances are however bad your mind tells you things will turn out, chances are they won't!

And if they do... so what! Life moves on, you'll get over it!

Get into a positive frame of mind from the dawning of first light and watch how you can begin to realistically assess the opportunities that come your way!

I'm not saying this is all airy fairy nonsense, but what I am saying is just what Chuck Swindoll said in a recent devotional: -
"90% of who you are today is how you have reacted to what life has thrown at you"
Now I'm pretty sure he said it a tad more eloquently than that (and if I can remember it in full context I'll change it) but you get the idea right?

Stop blaming what's happened to you being the result of who you are today!

NO!!!

Only ten percent might have been uncontrollable, the other 90 is how you've CHOSEN to react to it!

You get me now? Stow the negatives and get with the positives!

I know I come across as strong-willed and VERY opinionated at times on this blog, but I don't mean to be so hard-headed, I just want to break through to one person, just one person to get them to stop and think about how they're reacting to all life's throwing at them.

If it just seems to be getting worse and worse, then how your reacting to it is clearly the problem, so quit being part of the problem and get with the solution! ;)

Final Thought

Take these words to heart if they've affected you and next time you feel like reacting with a negative attitude, think about whether the situation will be the same five minutes, five hours, five days, five weeks... hell even five months from now!

If so, grin and bear it because the end will be worth it because the juice is always worth the squeeze!

Peace out!
