Well, I've finally managed to pick up an Xbox 360, even though i know we're a generation ahead now with the likes of the Xbone & the PS4 on our shores and the likes of Titanfall one of this generations final great games, already making waves before it's even released on the 360... And that's not counting the cheaters that have been spotted on the PC version!
What's my take on this whole console wars b.s...?
There you have it, it's that simple, "bull" and "spit" as far as I'm concerned and the reason behind my stance is also simple; I buy the damn console that interests me and that's usually due to the quality/style of games that each platform represents.
Like current gen, it's the Xbone at the moment, purely because of the way the Kinect will be integrated into gaming more and more as developers come up with new ways to utilise the facial recognition software in-game and as for no motion controller... EAT THAT SONY!!! They didn't rip off Nintendo's idea and flop faster than a pancake coming unstuck from a ceiling with their controller!
For last-gen, I can pick up the gen1 Kinect for £14.99 so I'll be doing that, mainly because this console hasn't been afflicted with the 'spying' malarkey that the Xbone has!
Now, onto another note, a game franchise so over-rated imo, it's boring...
CALL OF DOO-DEE!
The makers of the Ghost Recon franchise at least tried something different with Future Solider, even if it was cr@p compared to GRAW2, still the finest last-gen shooter with solid story, cool gadgetry & realistic enemies!
As for CoD, well, the only cod I want to see is on my plate at the seaside, people!
I'd much rather be slaying dragons on Skyrim
Or locking down pole position on F1
Neither of these can or should be compared with CoD because they're both completely different styles of games, but that's what I go for, something that's not predictably dull and meh!
I tried the CoD multiplayer out back in the days of the first Modern Warfare and even then considered it over-rated tripe, but that's just my opinion and I don't have to justify myself to anyone, lol!
Give me Operation Flashpoint for realism (play that mode if you rely on the compass/objective marker too much!): -
And Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 for it's gadgetry (it has a gun that can shoot round corners, bro's!). Now, before people go off and say I've got a problem with CoD, I don't, I have a problem with the perennial a$$holes who make out like it's the best thing since sliced bread and it isn't!!!
It's over-rated and until I can get a hold of Halo 3 & up, I'll see if I don't change my mind about that being over-rated too!
It's not meant to be an anti-CoD rant or anti-Halo rant because they've both contributed toward setting precedents for what should make quality multiplayer, so before you say I'm being hypocritical, I'm not. I'm merely saying that I do not see the point in a game where you run around endlessly killing one another only to die and respawn and guess what? Do the same again! WHAT A CROCK OF BOOORRINNGG!!!
It's just my opinion that I'd much rather pick a game that does not show such signs of repetition like that and actually requires you to use the old grey matter for once (I haven't scored a 200+ IQ for nowt, bro's!) in order to think your way through a solution.
Realism CoD ain't and it hasn't been that way for a long-a$$ time now because war is far more ugly than the way that franchise portrays it.
Give me a game that has a proper story and some good, taxing puzzles any day!
That... is all!
Peace out!
