Today is the best that I've felt in a long time since my admission in my battle with depression. I believe they said that the first step on the road to recovery is to admit that you've got a problem, so I did.
Anyways, I was going to make a posting dedicated to this year's Classic FM Hall of Fame... go on, click it, I dare you! Boss, isn't it?
Instead I've taken a different approach and just posted some classical thoughts along with a bit of a life update...
Personally I'm glad that Vaughn Williams retained his position at number one, even though I'm a big fan of the runner up, Rachmaninov (ED - I guess you could say he was bound to win whoever he chose!).
A shout out though at this point goes to Allegri's Miserere for making it into the top 6, that's my next favourite!
At this point I offer a sincere thanks to my friend, Adam, who when we were studying for GCSE's, said that he listened to Classic FM to help with his studying and revising... that is where my seventeen-year journey started! :D
Let's have a look at the top two in full, so we can decide whether or not they should be crowning the top in the classical chart: -
And here's Rachmaninov: -
I am so glad I returned with more aplomb than usual to listening to this radio station because it has really inspired my love of classical music all over again, though I will say that I've been getting hooked also on Radio 1 today, so you could say I like a lot of varying styles of music!
Therapeutic & relaxing are two words that I would attribute to this genre and I find it interesting that I could listen to a piece, the name of which escapes me right now, to find it relaxing, but my mum thinks it's depressing (ED - Careful now! Down with that sort of thing!).
Doesn't this prove that, once again, music has far greater power to impact our moods than we realise?
I'm going to look into that in more detail soon because I want to see what sort of information comes out of a post like that, especially as I'm trying to help people understand that whilst we cannot control how life happens around us, we can control how we will react when it does.
I'll list my top 3 chill out tunes that guarantee to keep me calm so you can make your own minds up whether there is something to be gained out of a switch to classical music (ED - HINT: There is!) for now & for good.
Until then, I have great pleasure in announcing that I've finally got a new battery for my car meaning... wait for it... waiiiit for iiiit...
ROAD TRIP!!!
So I'll be taking my camera along to hopefully do some vlogs and document my visit, I believe it will be to Buxton, though I haven't yet decided so we shall see how that unfolds!
Until then...
Peace off!
