Who, or What is God to You?

Hey everyone!

Who is God to you?

What is God to you?

I'm jumping right into this one today as there's a lot to be said that needs saying quickly.

For so many people their misconception of who God is can lead to a lifetime of dismay, regret or mediocrity when it is God's plan for us to prosper no matter where we go or what we do (Deut 28:1-14)...

Who God is Defines Who You Are

You will find that, until you start resting in a promise like the one I've given in the book of Deuteronomy, you will still likely be thinking that you have to perform as though your salvation depends upon it.

NEWSFLASH; It doesn't!

Once you are saved, that's it, you are in God's kingdom forever and it was always His plan that you would prosper!

It wasn't supposed to matter what you did, yet it can be hard to fully grasp just what work it is that God is asking you to undertake. So let me give you an idea of who I view God to be today & every day courtesy of a song by Planetshakers: -

The statement "I know who You are" is supposed to show God that you know that He is for you (Romans 8:31), He has your best interests at heart (Romans 8:28) and He is your Maker (Genesis 5:2) above all else.

If you are spending too much time looking at your problems today, or your circumstances then of course you are going to stop looking at what God is doing in, through and for you!

The reality of your situation is that, however bad it looks, firstly with all due respect, get over yourself, your life is not all about you but about those around you!

Secondly, you are called from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18) so you are not going to be stuck in your circumstances forever.

Just hang in there a little bit longer!

The chances are that if you give up now, either today after reading this, or at some other point in the future then you will have been right on the verge of your breakthrough that you'll now never see because you quit too soon!

I'm not judging you if you're having thoughts of quitting today, I have thoughts of quitting time and again, but they have to be suppressed by a constant reminder that God is doing a work in me and, thankfully, He is just and faithful to carry it onto completion (Philippians 1:6).

Get this, notice how the verse says "until the day of Christ Jesus"That means that, unfortunately, we will never be fully free of our struggle between relying on God & not relying on ourselves.

Christ came to set us free (John 8:36) and as such we have this freedom to enjoy our lives to the fullest (John 10:10), but the problem is we are too fond of relying upon ourselves instead of on Jesus!

So what we need to do, we need to fix our eyes on who God is in our lives today. Is He relevant? Is He Master? Is He Commander? Or is He just someone we turn to whenever we feel that we need help?

Final Thought

To close then, today, I'm going to post the chorus of the song that I've linked to because I want you to, if you are struggling identifying just who Jesus is today, meditate upon this information all throughout this week and let Him speak to you through it: -
Lord, Maker, Savior,
I know that through it all You are greater,
Your love for me will never fade away,
Those who hope in you will never be ashamed,
'Cause I know who You are
"I know who You are" - do you know who God is today in your circumstance?

I'll give you a clue and say that, though you still struggle, He is still on the throne, He is still over all and He will still bring you through this!

Just TRUST!!!

Shock, drop & awe!
