FYI: I don't normally take requests for content for my blog, precisely because it is my blog. However, yesterday I decided to make an exception to that rule because of the nature of a suggestion made by a friend of mine.
Peter, thank you, my good buddy! ;-) - TLP
Welcome to a brand new week everyone!
We're already on day two of another week so as time moves ever onwards, may this week be even greater than the last one for you all. :-)
This week I'm going to be posting pretty much every day as I take a suggestion offered to me yesterday by a good friend of mine and run with it for the next four days...
Above, Not Below!
I'm going to start off this week by taking a look at something that's often overlooked and under-used in a believer's life; prayer.
How often have you thought to yourself to bring God's input into your situation?
If you are not a believer then chances are that's never right? That's okay. It's not everyone's choice to believe. But if you are a believer and you ask yourself that question, do you really think your answer should be similar to that?
I don't think so!
Why?
Let me take this to the Bible straight away: -
Those who know Your Name put their trust in You, for You have not abandoned those who seek You, Adonai. Psalm 9:11 (CJB)
I wonder if I have made my point yet?
"Those who know Your Name"... what is the implication of a sentence like that? That if you know God, you will know that He has not abandoned you to struggle through your own mess. You will also know that He wants you to come to Him for advice whenever you face a difficult or challenging circumstance.
I mean, sure, having a crush on (ED - yep, as if he's going to blurt her name out!)... haha... makes me feel like I'm struggling at times with my feelings for her.
But I told you why I struggle so; because I am not allowing myself to pressure her in any way because I just want to get to know her first!
Trending New Things
#ORALE
That's a new hashtag I'm going to be using whenever I've got something to say that needs to be heard (ED - as opposed to what exactly, TLP?) because it basically means "listen up"!
I remember once hearing Dr. Charles Stanley make a statement that was so simple, yet so profound that it forever changed how I saw prayer from that day onwards: -
"We stand tallest on our knees."
Read that back and think about it for a moment...
Done?
Have you realised what it is saying?
It's saying, to quote Hillsong United "I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground": -
What a song!
I still remember the first time that I saw that song and how I immediately connected with the concept of touching the sky the moment my knees hit the ground.
Do you think that's happened to me over how I feel about a certain person? Of course it has!
It has had to happen precisely because of how quite literally powerless that I feel the closer I get to her!
It's not my fault, for I never planned for this to happen, not on your life! :-P
Having The Right Perspective
#ORALE
Oftentimes, the biggest revelations that I have had, have come from moments where I've been forced to my knees, which these days is not easy given that I tried to smash them nearly three weeks ago.
Oftentimes, the biggest revelations that I have had, have come from moments where I've been forced to my knees, which these days is not easy given that I tried to smash them nearly three weeks ago.
I know, I know, I'm becoming a liability to any insurance company! :-P
The point is, that as I realised just how powerless I find myself whenever I am around her, I know that God is working because of certain events that are going on at the same time that make me precisely ask God just what is going on!
Why?
Simple: I need God's perspective on this just like I need... no, more than I need air to breathe, right now!
I told my friend, Peter, that I think I like her too much, which has caused my behaviour to go awry at times. It is in those moments, however, that I've thrown myself onto the altar and let God do His transformation work that's seen me go from feeling so obscure as to have an existential crisis where I wondered if I even mattered, to gradually getting involved with creative!
Final Thought
So, if I haven't made myself clear it is in the act of punching above one's weight ie. by praying, that we can often see results that we are not expecting and, usually, are not deserving of.
Tomorrow, I want to follow directly on from this by looking at a saying we use a lot at church: -
"praise comes before your breakthrough"
It's an easy one to think we know the answer to, but the reality of the situation is that it is in our praise that the foundations get laid upon which our breakthrough is built!
As ever, watch the skies!
