Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” Genesis 1:28 (NLT)
Hi everyone!
First of all thank you for bearing with me whilst I work out some personal stuff involving my unchanging feelings for my crush. It's been a hellish road but I'm getting through it, one day at a time.
We're almost through our account of creation now and as mankind is on the scene now, God proceeds to bless His creation before issuing a command that he is to go forth, be fruitful and multiply.
Increase, More & Abundance
The first thing that I'm going to point out here is that, naturally, God is a God of increase, of more, of abundance, proving that He does not want us to live in lack, without, or suffering.
Yet here I am, I could be tempted to say, buckling under the weight of my crush, but it is here that I refer you (and myself!) to the Apostle Paul's very own words: -
We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies. 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 (NLT)
Look at the last part of that verse
"...through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be seen in our bodies"
So let me take that and put it with this: -
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28 (NLT)
The conclusion?
No matter what happens, I know that all things... ALL THINGS will work together for my good ultimately!
Watch this... God's first act (after acknowledging that each stage of creation was good) at this point is to issue a blessing and then a command to "go forth, be fruitful & multiply" showing that He is a God of purpose now, as well as a God of increase and multiplication.
So at this point, it is healthy to remind ourselves that though our present afflictions remain for but a short while, a greater joy is on its way: -
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 2 Corinthians 4:17 (NLT)
From God's point of view, He wanted us to go forth, be fruitful and multiply. That was His plan all along, yet with foresight He knew what was coming; that sin was to enter the world and that a greater plan had to be in place.
He wanted to remind us through His Word that all things, no matter whether good or bad, were going to not only produce for us a greater glory in the long run, but that everything would come up good with our name on it!
Final Thought
So with all of that in mind, we have to hold fast in whatever we are going through to a greater hope that's resting firmly in the other side of whatever trouble that we are facing because we know that, in the end, we win!
Keep that in mind, next time you're considering doing something that you might just regret. I know I have to, because to give up on God's plan for my life is just not an option right now.
Join me in taking one day at a time, won't you?
Watch the skies!
