Then God said, "Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days and years..." Genesis 1:14 (NLT)
Interesting...
That's the only way to start this week's devotional and I use that word simply because we had "let there be light" on day one, yet only now, day four, do we see the sun, moon & stars come into existence.
Don't we also now see that it was at this point that these lights were designed to govern the days, seasons & years?
Do you see now why I referred to that "First Light" as a revelation of the glory of God?
"For through Him (Jesus) God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16 (NLT) emphasis added
So right there, we have a revelation in itself that everything that God created was for the glory of Himself and His Son to be revealed eventually through a virgin birth!

The Glue of Creation not an Afterthought but a Forethought
The story of creation is really starting to glue together now and life has not yet even been created!
This is effectively God laying down the foundations before He creates His finest masterpiece; man (ED - and by him, creates woman also), but that's to come at a later date.
Today, I'm marvelling over how the moment the sun and moon were created to bring light to rule both the day and the night, it was in order for man to be able to see. A lesser light had to be created that wasn't His glory!
Why? Because it's often said that only the dead can see God: -
"But you may not look directly at my face, for no one may see me and live.” Exodus 33:20 (NLT)Wow!
I know we are instantly reminded of what the apostle Paul said about seeing the revelation, but did you notice? He went blind for a spell afterwards!
How great a revelation of what God is doing than to be told that no living mortal entity can see the face or the works of God and expect to live to tell the tale, unless God's plan permits it!
Final Thought
Creation gets ever closer to having its finest hour, but before that, the animals of the ground & sea must arrive, along with the birds of the air.
Naturally, we'll be looking at that in greater detail next time, bro's!
Until then, watch the skies!
